Fabulous

I have the most fabulous news!!! I have been smiling for days about it as well!!!!! But alas no pictures does this post contain....It's all about my nieces visit here! We were talking after the hugs and greetings...oh how I missed her! When she asked if I would teach her counted cross stitch!!!!!!! Apparently when she was in NY for those 6 weeks getting better she was also bored and her mom told her she needed a hobby and she picked up a stamped cross stitch pattern and completed it but hated it....no wonder there! So off we went to Stitcher's Paradise (my LNS)...she quickly picked a suitable pattern with Crescent Colors overdyed threads not too big either I think the stitch count was 76x76 now onto fabric...I thought she'd pick a plain fabric....no she wanted an overdyed fabric with sparkles.....I did insist on Aida for her first project though. So she got a 14ct PTPlus Crystal Earthen. And later when we got home we had her first and only lesson! I gave her one of my Qsnaps and she quickly took to it after I taught her the basics. Her stitches are perfect and she truly loves it! I really meant to take a picture. So Dh comes home to the two of us on the couch stitching!!!! It made my heart happy! I have since talked to her and she is loving it! She says it quiets her mind and I totally agree. With needle and thread in hand we are creative souls!!!! I am one happy Aunt!!! It must be in her genes is all I can fathom!

I am just feeling better after a migraine so I haven't picked up a needle this weekend yet but am planning to just as soon as I sign off.....I just had to share my wonderful news!!!!! We had such a great visit just doing things together and relaxing! She truly is my heart!

I am grateful to be migraine free and to have such amazing nieces......

May your needle fly through your fabric.........

Where oh where.....

I have no idea why I haven't posted except to say that I have been stitching! I feel better the migraines have been minimal although I have one now but I will not let it win. I will nap after posting this. I hope all is well with everyone and want to start by saying Thank You for all of the lovely comments that I have received!!! I so appreciate them!!!!!!!

I did start The Tower of Stoney Wood!!! And I am loving it!!!!! And Fairy moon is coming along. I picked up Cirque on friday when a friend was over and have been focusing on it. I told you I was stitching a lot! I have 2 friends that I work with and they happen to stitch as well so we do impromptu get togethers. And I am happy to say they have both joined the wednesday stitching group at SP!!!!! Speaking of SP they are having their 5th anniversary with a month long celebration!!! Each week is a new sale during June. This week was charts!!!! I got another HAED that I have been eyeing for a while. I also got my first Chatelaine.......aren't you happy Deb !!! Along with one other one by LHN!!!!! I will post pictures most likely tomorrow.....

We have a group of us within the stitching group that are reading Jane Austen as a read along and we had our first luncheon yesterday!!!! We had such fun!!!! On another note I watched Capote with Philip Seymour Hoffman as Truman Capote all I can say is wow!!! I loved every minute and PSH was spectacular! I went out and bought a copy of In Cold Blood...I have never read it and am looking forward to starting it maybe tonight! Not a light read but I've been meaning to read it since last summer so here goes......

And for anyone who hasn't seen the new Nora Corbett Fairy Letters ...Here they are .....A, B, and C.....I had planned to do Mdesigns Celtic letters for my nieces and SIL as a belated thank you gift for sharing my wedding day as bridesmaids and best woman but now I plan to do these!!!!! I have the C on order and of course the J for myself when it comes out!!! Thank you again Nora for such lovely patterns to cross stitch.

I am grateful for my love of counted cross stitch......

I've been bad......

I had so great fun with my brother this week!!! We weren't close growing up but all that changed about 10-11 years ago. He is just a bit older than me and I was the little sister! But now we are very close and he truly has a piece of my heart as do his 2 girls!!!! I truly can't imagine my life without him in it!!! I miss him already......

Now onto why I've been bad....I started 2 new pieces just yesterday. I started Bent Creek's The Red Thread and SB's Fear Not! They are both fun and unfortunately no pictures yet. I'm not really sure why I felt the need to add to my current projects but I did. My DH thinks I have too much on the go as it is but it makes me happy!!!! And tonight is Cirque des Cercles turn to be the project of choice!!!! It's voice did get a bit loud.....

Oh and on saturday I went to SP and had some fun. I dropped my brother off at the Wynn Casino since his flight was cancelled the night before due to bad weather in NY. He was so good about it totally understanding my need to stitch and see friends I hadn't seen in 2 weeks. When I was done I picked him up and we went home and I made a good dinner of pasta, fresh sauce and turkey sausages. And then he was on his way home and this time his flight wasn't cancelled.

While at SP I didn't find much to catch my interest from Nashville which truly surprised me! I did get a new pair of scissors from Kelmscott called The Love Scissors and a new needleminder and I completed my Red Thread collection. I promise pictures in the next post.
I did order a new pattern from ?!Who Knew!? called Ocean Curiosity
Isn't she beautiful!!!!! Actually Noreen alerted me to this new design and it's now on order at SP for me!!! Thanks again Noreen!!!! Now to start one of the three....they will wait till I finish an already started design. Oh my that sounded almost sane..... I did say almost.....PS there is still time to vote in the poll in my sidebar. Take a look if you please.....

And I'm going back to work starting tomorrow......I can't believe how fast that 6 weeks went. I feel ready to go back but still plan on pacing myself. I work 12 hour days so it's just 3 days a week and I work tomorrow and then I'm off for 2 days.....Wish me luck!

I am grateful for the joy in my life...........

Stitch or Read

After working 2 (12hour )days I took myself to B&N to pick up my copies of Harry Potter!!! I actually got 2 because one is a present for a friends daughter! And I have read the first 10 pages or so....and then I stitched! I am now up early since I can't sleep and that never happens after working but so here I am. I am going to make a pot of coffee and read outside by the pool. I never posted about the HP movie that I saw last week. I loved it !!!! I truly think it was the best one yet even if they managed to leave some of my favorite stuff out it was a 700 or so page book! I have to mention my brother's post about HP as well here....it moved me so! I also started reading HP to have something to talk to my younger niece as well. I really didn't expect to get hooked as I did but now can't imagine life without HP and the way it helped my relationship with her! She is amazing! But then he helped raise two strong articulate daughters each individual in their own way!!!! So I'm off to divide my time between HP and Fern! I feel I have to savor this last book and I was torn about starting it and even reading it after Book 6 but Harry is after all Harry! I plan on reading them all again after I finish Book 7.........I so miss my train time in NY I got so much reading done then ..it was a 3 hour commute round trip...now I drive and well seem to read less. I read on my lunchtime now. I think I'll read this morning and stitch this afternoon and evening! Oh and I must call my dear MIL back since she called to see if I got my book yet!
P.S. Fern is looking so wonderful.

I am grateful for reading and being off............

She came!!!

I was thrilled yesterday when my hubby came in with the mail....Galatea and her Venus threads were in his hands! I had only just received the e-mail over the weekend saying she was being shipped out on Monday and here she was in my hands on Tuesday! And today was stitching group at SP what perfect timing! I hadn't planned on getting her fabric....but you know how it just happens! Oh and she included a beautiful fob as well. I just love ordering from Passione Ricamo . So I picked a PTPlus 32ct Sterling fabric and bought 1/2 yard just to make sure since the 1/4 yd they had cut would have been a tad tight. Here she is.... It'a a bit bluer IRL. But I fell in love with it immediately! Here's another picture of just the thread and material.... I didn't take a picture of the fob, I'll save that for another post. I was bad as well....not just the material did I get but some Christmas in July sale items and Mirabilia's November Topaz Fairy was in as well. That wagon just doesn't have a chance with me. The group was so fun today but I work up a bit late and was rushing around and packed up what I thought was everything and I left Fern on her scroll rods home! UGH! Luckily I had Cirque des Cerles to stitch but no hoop so I stitched in hand and thoroughly enjoyed it! I planned to get a scroll rod for it today at Michael's but the coupon I had was for next week so it'll just wait! I have been stitching away on Fern and have an update to show.... . And Noreen I can't believe I didn't post the fabric that I'm stitching her on! It's PTPlus 32ct Crystal Carnival! It's much softer and lighter IRL. With the way I'm stitching she should be done and framed in time for my nieces' visit in August. Which I just got word that my brother booked!!! I am so thrilled about their visit and already am planning things to do! It'll be fun to see them! I do miss them so much! But now I look forward to spending a week with them!!!!!

I'm off to stitch now since hubby is at work and I have the house to myself and of course the puppy. I only have to make the potato salad since my hubby invited a friend over whose visiting from NY tomorrow. And we'll BBQ the rest....Oh and I am finally dropping my car at the body shop to get fixed! I have to say that the insurance company is being really good, they arranged my rental which I have to get on the way, so hubby is coming and then we have a whole day of things to do. So I'll relax tonight and stitch.

I am grateful for my stitching mojo being back........

A small Change and a new start

You may notice a small change to my blog name...I have to credit Lizzy with the idea! I came to the conclusion that since my stitching mojo is indeed back that my blog really should reflect that fact. So I am now A Fairy Princess Dreams and Stitches!!!! How do you like it?? Please let me know what you think! This is indeed a short post as I am starting another project and yes that makes 4 new starts...I am starting Fern by Nora Corbett which is not of her Mirabilia line. I will post a picture of my progress when there is something to show...but for now here is the official picture This is for my niece Megan and it happens to be her birthday today and she is 17!!! How did that happen? I've mentioned my nieces before and they are my heart! They make me smile! So Happy Birthday, Megan!!!! I am so looking forward to my brother's and her visit in August! I hope to have Fern done by then since the visit is at the end of August! They will be here for my birthday so I am thrilled!!! I'm off to start Fern and get some coffee........ Hope everyone's Sunday is restful!

I am grateful for my nieces..........

A new Mirabilia...or three...

I was checking out the Mirabilia Ezboard and found this Mirabilia Crystal Symphony due out March 1. Mirabilia designer Nora Corbett has been on a designing streak lately! She also has two other new designs coming out soon which of course I love! But they are causing some controversy since they are faceless....that is what I love about them! I always knew I was weird! Here they are Fern and Ivy . Oh and one of my nieces has already claimed Fern! Which is great since I haven't stitched her anything in a while. I am on my way to my LNS in a little while so that worked out well. And then it's Pilates. Which was supposed to be yesterday but work switched my days. So I really need to go. And then my hair.....and I'll post about that but more importantly my new fabrics all 3 from my FOTM club that I get from Shakespeare's Peddler . I signed up for 1 originally and then went to 2 a month in the second month so to get me current ..I got 3 in February. Is that as clear as mud... So I'll get my day started and be back more blonde and less stressed! And the blonde will be on my head but I may also be feeling it as well...LOL. Have a great day everyone.

I am grateful for stitching and the joy it brings me..........

First post for 2007

Well I have a fresh cup of coffee with me and I realized that I wasn't very positive in my last post... I have rested over the last 2 days I basically slept all day yesterday! I have been in a "mean red." For those of you who can recall Breakfast at Tiffany's it was what Audrey Hepburn's character Holly Golightly used to describe her bad moods and it fits so well! That it was best for me to be under the covers and out of harms way was an understatement.....but that seems to have lifted, thankfully. It's not fun trying to figure out whats in my head and when it decides to come tumbling out.....that's time to head for the covers.

The trip to NY was wonderful except for the glitch as previously mentioned.... It was so great to see my nieces Caitlin and Megan! And my brother Brian on not one but two occasions. We were able to fit breakfast in on the last day, just him and I. We have grown so close in the last 8-9 years and I cherish it. My nieces are my heart! I don't have children of my own and they are simply gold in my eyes, there is nothing I wouldn't do for them and they know it!!! They have grown into such strong independent self assured women! Something my sister and I never were at their age and something I took years to figure out and learn that it was okay. I actually think that they helped me along the way in subtle ways. Their parents deserve so much credit for their strength and wisdom!

And that surprise my hubby had for me was so very good. His cousin Lisa gave it away on Christmas day.....she felt so bad! But I kind of had it figured out! He had tickets to see Mary Poppins on Broadway!!!! I loved the movie as a child and have it on DVD. It's where I got my love of the "big bag" you just have to love it...I've never carried a small, petite bag...LOL. It was date night! We had a night out. The play was outstanding and he loved it too!!!! I also got so many souvenirs from the play!!! I really did feel like a princess that night. Then we went to Rockefeller Center to see "The Tree"!!!! It was so beautiful! The lights and people and angels leading up to the tree! I always say a little prayer at the tree...my tradition as well as talk to my sister. I just feel her there. I have pictures but haven't uploaded them to the computer yet so I'll make that a separate post. While there at the ice rink a couple got engaged the whole deal...down on one knee, she cryed, said yes, was surprised....well it was 2 days after Christmas. I just thought it was brave of him it being 2 days after .... well it's time for more coffee. Have a great day everyone!
edited to add.....we opened our presents last night and dh got me the OTT light that I so wanted!!! It helped that I took him to Jo-ann's during the sale but still he listened! And a U2 DVD!!!!
I am grateful for my better mood....
